1st Grade Pumpkin Patch (Complete!)

Well, my first graders really performed on this last unit involving pumpkins, color mixing, painting, cutting, pasting, layers and finally – creating 3-Dimensional details with vines and even more grass!

The last day really involved a lot of finishing touches.  We got out tissue paper and twisted it into a vine.  We talked about how curly and textured these vines could be so really students could twist as tight or loose as they wanted and they could curl the vine around by gluing it down wherever (remember not a lot, just a dot).    Use the rest of the time to layer more grass on top of the pumpkin – talk about how this hides the pumpkin the grass as if we are looking and searching for our pumpkins in the patch.

Check out some of the work we did! And find out more about the lesson here (day 1), here (day 2) and here (last time)!
